ABOUT SIX BRANCHES FAMILY ACUPUNCTURE
Six Branches Family Acupuncture offers a holistic, trauma-informed approach to healthcare, with a particular focus on fertility, pregnancy and hormonal imbalances. Our mission is to offer safe, effective support for chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, and hormonal imbalances showing up as infertility, irregular, painful or heavy periods, peri-menopausal symptoms and common conditions of pregnancy and postpartum.
Our entire clinical team has advanced training in addressing fertility and hormonal challenges, and supporting pregnancy. We work collaboratively to bring you the best care possible.
At Six Branches Family Acupuncture we believe:
Black Lives Matter - only when we all truly believe and act on this statement will we be able to say that all lives matter.
People build families in all kinds of ways. We support you in whichever way you are building a family.
We support trans folks and will respect your pronouns.
Pregnancy happens in many genders, not all identify as women.
We take a Health At Every Size approach to support patients in all body sizes and we will never tell you to lose weight. We have arm extenders on our treatment tables and comfortable office seating, and our tables support weight up to 550lbs.
People who want hormonal medications should have full access to them.
People who want help with painful or heavy periods or irregular cycles should have alternatives to taking hormonal medications if they want them.
We share wisdom from the Traditional East Asian Medicine tradition to help people and are deeply indebted to our teachers. We will never appropriate East Asian cultures for our brand or marketing.
We donate a portion of our proceeds to support various community organizations. Follow us on Instagram to see our posts about organizations we support.
We are committed to listening, learning, and uplifting others in the healing journey.
We are located in Rosemont Wellness Center on Brighton Avenue in Portland, Maine. Appointments with Six Branches Family Acupuncture may include acupuncture, gua sha, cupping, moxabustion, dietary/lifestyle suggestions and/or custom herbal consultations.
Why Six Branches?
“Six Branches” refers to the idea of six major acupuncture meridians branching throughout the body like limbs of a strong tree. In traditional acupuncture, the meridians are thought of as pathways in the body for the movement of ‘Qi’. In modern terms, this translates to lines of connective tissue (fascia) that stretch across the body. There have been studies that have shown higher electrical conductance along these lines of connective tissue and others that show various brain activity changes with acupuncture stimulation. Acupuncture is not magic, but it can feel like it sometimes!

Naomi Skoglund (she/her), MSTCM, MS.Ed, L.Ac., FABORM is a nationally certified acupuncturist, herbalist, and the Clinical Director of Six Branches Family Acupuncture. Licensed since 2012, Naomi specializes in hormonal health, fertility, pregnancy support, and chronic pelvic pain. She is passionate about how Traditional Chinese Medicine empowers patients, helps them reconnect with their bodies, and actively engages them in the healing process.
Naomi holds a Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (2011) at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine, completing four years and over 3,500 hours of rigorous clinical and didactic training. Her unique approach bridges TCM and biomedical concepts, helping patients clearly understand how acupuncture supports their physiology.
A highly tactile practitioner, Naomi brings a palpatory focus to her treatments. She holds certifications in massage and Tui Na, is an advanced student of the Engaging Vitality palpation system, and recently completed a pelvic acupuncture certification with Krystal Lynn Couture, DPT, MAc. Her extensive herbal expertise was further honed through a competitive two-year graduate mentorship program with master practitioner Sharon Weizenbaum.

angela bell, l.ac.
MAOM (Master of Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine)
Angela Bell (she/her), L.Ac. is a nationally board-certified acupuncturist and herbalist who has been practicing Chinese medicine since 2008. Angela focuses primarily on pelvic health, gynecology, fertility, and hormonal health through every stage of the reproductive lifespan.
Angela supports patients navigating a wide range of concerns, including endometriosis, painful or irregular cycles, PMOS (PCOS), PMDD, fertility challenges (including IVF/IUI support), pregnancy symptoms, postpartum recovery, perimenopause, and menopause. She provides thoughtful, individualized care for symptoms like pelvic pain, hot flashes, and sleep disruption, as well as the deep emotional stress that can accompany fertility treatments and hormonal transitions.
Angela earned her Master’s in Acupuncture and East Asian Medicine from the New England School of Acupuncture. She is a trained birth doula, a certified Better Birth Friend of Breech Babies, and currently serves on the executive board of the Pelvic Health Alliance of Maine. Over nearly two decades of practice, she has developed a highly sought-after specialty in supporting families navigating breech presentation. When parents receive this often overwhelming news, Angela offers calm, evidence-informed guidance and compassionate care using techniques from her training with Breech Without Borders and Spinning Babies®.
Her clinical care is profoundly shaped by her personal journey. As a queer mother who conceived through IVF at 40 after navigating advanced endometriosis and family-building with donor sperm, Angela intimately understands the physical and emotional demands of fertility treatment—the protocols, uncertainty, grief, and resilience it requires. She is fiercely committed to providing affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ patients and families as they navigate reproductive care.
Before returning home to Maine in 2021, Angela built a highly respected practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and served as a board member for AllPaths Family Building (formerly Resolve New England). Now back in the greater Portland community, she loves collaborating with local physicians, midwives, doulas, and pelvic health providers. When she isn't in the clinic, Angela enjoys being close to extended family and exploring Maine with her daughter.
ELAINE MEADE, L.AC.
MAC (Master of ACUPUNCTURE)
Certified in Integrative Koshi-Balancing & Cranial Therapeutics
Elaine Meade (she/her), MAc, L.Ac. is a Nationally Board-Certified Acupuncturist and Herbalist who has been practicing Chinese medicine since 2013. She holds a Master of Science in Acupuncture from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon, and is dedicated to helping patients find greater balance, vitality, and well-being through a highly integrative approach to care.
Elaine specializes in acute and chronic pain management, headaches and migraines, digestive disorders, and hormonal health. Her advanced training includes completing the Rosefinch Academy fertility program with Dr. Lee Hullender Rubin, studying Chinese herbal medicine with Sharon Weizenbaum, and specializing in Sa'am, a traditional Korean acupuncture system known for its precise four-needle approach. Depending on her patients' needs, her treatments seamlessly incorporate acupuncture with hands-on therapies like cupping, gua sha, and trigger point release.
Elaine's clinical style bridges East Asian medical wisdom with western biomedical concepts, helping patients understand how these approaches work together for lasting health. Believing that patient education is essential to long-term recovery, she loves empowering individuals with practical lifestyle guidance that extends the benefits of treatment far beyond the clinic walls.
Her path into the medicine began early through a lifelong immersion in natural healing. Raised by a mother who taught her Reiki and bodywork, used herbal remedies, and emphasized preventative chiropractic care, Elaine learned the value of holistic health from a young age. In her early twenties, she deepened her personal practice through nutrition, yoga, and meditation—discovering firsthand that true wellness comes from listening to the body, taking an active role in one’s health, and receiving compassionate, knowledgeable support.
Elaine relocated to Maine in 2013. When she isn't supporting patients at Six Branches, she enjoys exploring the woods and ocean, dancing, and baking allergy-friendly treats to share with family and friends.
